Free, open-source point-of-sale for small and micro businesses — a central server and as many till terminals as you need.

ProficientPOS is a retail point-of-sale system in two parts: a server that owns all the data (products, users, sales) and one or more desktop till terminals that talk to it over your network.

What is included: products and stock, sales and atomic checkout, printed and PDF receipts, daily reporting, and user roles for admin, manager and cashier.

How it runs: install the server on one machine — the shop computer is fine — and the terminal on each till. Terminals need a live connection to that server, which can be the same PC or another on your local network, so no internet connection is required. It is not an offline till: if a terminal loses the network it cannot sell until the connection is back.

Free and open source under the MIT Licence. Optional connected services (PeacePay payments, PeaceSMS, TIMS/fiscal integration) can be added later with a Peace Technologies account.
